Shelter Animals Count: The National Database

Data Drive 2022

Qualify for $21,000 in Grant prizes by submitting your complete intake and outcome data by January 14, 2022.

We need more than estimates

We need action. Shelter Animals Count exists to create an effective infrastructure for complete and accurate shelter reporting to understand risk factors, use data to implement strategies, and positively impact efforts.

Because the numbers count

An independent, centralized database is necessary. While shelters have made great progress for animals, accurate and comprehensive nationwide data collection did not exist prior to Shelter Animals Count.

Collaboration is critical

Shelter Animals Count is a collaborative initiative formed by a diverse group of stakeholders to create and share The National Database of sheltered animal statistics, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help.

Our goal is 100% shelter participation.

Data drives the decisions that animal shelters make daily for pets in their communities. Fortunately, many shelters already collect and report important data to The National Database, and the time has come for nationwide participation.
